Add a Contact

Add a lead or customer and keep the details your team needs for follow-up and deals.

Create a contact as soon as a shopper enters your sales process. You can start with the information you have and complete the record as the relationship develops.

Create the contact

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Select Add Contact.
  3. Choose the dealership location that will work with the contact, if asked.
  4. Select Create Contact.

DealerSpot creates a Lead named New Contact and opens Details. Replace the placeholder name, add the information you have, and select Save.

Collect only what you need

Contact records can hold identification, employment, income, and insurance information. Follow your dealership's rules and applicable laws when collecting, using, and keeping customer data.

Choose Personal or Business

At the top of Details, choose the contact type that fits the customer.

Personal

Use Personal for an individual. Add their name, phone number, email address, lead source, and any other helpful details.

Business

Use Business for a company. You can add:

  • Company name, EIN, and website
  • Authorized signer's name and title
  • Authorized signer's phone number and email address

Confirm any signer or business requirements outside DealerSpot before completing a deal.

Complete the useful details

Add only what your team needs:

Select Save after making changes.

Set up the next follow-up

  • Use Lead, Prospect, or Customer to show where the relationship stands.
  • Choose the correct lead source.
  • Add the shopper's vehicle and purchase preferences.
  • Confirm that the correct dealership location appears in the header.

After saving, open General to connect vehicles, review deals, and add notes. Open Documents to attach files that are safe to share through a link. Manage appointments from Calendar.

Continue a contact you already started

The Add Contact window may tell you that a draft contact already exists. Choose Continue editing to finish that contact, or create another one for a different person or business.
