Import Vehicles from Supported Listings

Turn a supported outside listing into a DealerSpot Draft after reviewing its details.

Importing gives your team a faster starting point for inventory entry. The extension reads the open vehicle page, lets you correct what it found, and creates a Draft that stays off the storefront until you are ready.

Before you start

  • Install the DealerSpot Chrome Extension.
  • Sign in to DealerSpot through the same Chrome profile.
  • Open a vehicle detail page from a supported source.
  • Confirm the correct dealership at the top of the extension.

Imports do not need Facebook Marketplace access.

Supported sources

CopartVehicle lot details
IAAIVehicle lot details
Cars.comVehicle listing
AutoTraderVehicle listing
CarfaxVehicle listing

These sites can change, so the extension may find only some of the information on a page.

Import a vehicle

  1. Open the vehicle page in Chrome.
  2. Open the DealerSpot extension.
  3. Select Import from [source], or open Import.
  4. Wait for the extension to read the page.
  5. Review the vehicle summary and fields.
  6. Select Edit fields to correct or add information.
  7. Turn on Include images only if you want to copy the source images.
  8. Choose the dealership location, if asked.
  9. Select Import as Draft.

After the import, select View in Dashboard to open the vehicle.

Review what DealerSpot found

The preview may include the VIN, year, make, model, trim, mileage, asking price, colors, engine, transmission, fuel type, drive type, body style, doors, title status, and condition.

Treat every import as a starting point

Outside listing information can be missing or incorrect. Check the preview before importing and inspect the new Draft before publishing it on your storefront.

Copy images when appropriate

Image import is off at first. When enabled, the extension tries to copy up to 20 images. Each image can be up to 5 MB.

Some images may be skipped when the source blocks them or the files cannot be used. The vehicle can still be created even when an image fails. Add your dealership's own photos from the vehicle's Listing tab when needed.

Make sure your dealership has permission to use every imported image.

What the import creates

The new vehicle has:

  • Draft status
  • Imported as its source
  • The dealership location you chose
  • The corrected information from the preview
  • A link back to the outside listing when available

Open the Draft in DealerSpot to finish its details, listing, photos, expenses, documents, and public custom fields.

Quick fixes

No vehicle is found

Confirm that the site and page type are supported. Let the page finish loading, refresh it, and open the extension again.

The preview is incomplete

Use Edit fields now or finish the information in DealerSpot after importing.

The vehicle has no images

Check the message after import. Add dealership-owned photos in the vehicle's Listing tab if the source images could not be copied.

The import fails

Try again with Include images off. If it still fails, check for a duplicate VIN, confirm that the account can add another vehicle, and verify access to the selected dealership location.
