Importing Vehicles
Import supported vehicle listing pages into Dealerspot as draft inventory.
Use importing when you find a vehicle listing that should become part of your Dealerspot inventory. The extension reads supported listing pages, lets you review the detected data, and creates a draft vehicle record.
Supported Import Sources
The extension detects supported vehicle listing pages and shows an import action when it can read the page.
Supported sources include:
| Source | What the extension reads |
|---|---|
| Copart | Vehicle details and photos from supported lots |
| IAAI | Vehicle details and photos from supported lots |
| Cars.com | Listing data from supported vehicle pages |
| AutoTrader | Listing data from supported vehicle pages |
| Carfax | Listing data from supported vehicle pages |
If the extension cannot detect a vehicle, reload the listing page and open the extension again. Some listing pages may not expose enough structured data to import reliably.
Import a Vehicle
- Open a supported vehicle listing in Chrome.
- Open the Dealerspot extension.
- Click Import from source.
- Review the detected vehicle details in the Import tab.
- Choose whether to include listing images.
- Select the branch that should own the draft vehicle.
- Click Import as Draft.
Imported vehicles are created as draft inventory records. After import, open the vehicle in Dealerspot to complete missing fields, adjust pricing, attach documents, or publish it to your storefront.
Review Before Importing
The import preview lets you confirm the data before it reaches your inventory.
Review these fields carefully:
- Year, make, and model
- Mileage
- Price
- Color and other specifications
- VIN, when available
- Photos, if you choose to include them
- Branch assignment
Imported listing data can vary by source. Treat the preview as a starting point, not a replacement for your normal vehicle review.
Include Images
When the listing includes photos, the extension can include them in the imported draft.
Use image import when:
- The listing photos are clear and dealership-ready
- You want to preserve the source listing photos for review
- Your team will replace or reorder photos later in Dealerspot
Skip image import when:
- You only need a quick draft record
- The source photos are incomplete or low quality
- The image upload fails and you want to finish the import without blocking the vehicle record
After Import
After the draft is created, open the vehicle in Dealerspot and review:
- Required inventory fields
- Asking price and pricing strategy
- Photos and image order
- Description and public storefront visibility
- Branch assignment
- Documents or internal notes
Troubleshooting Imports
No vehicle detected
Confirm you are on a supported listing page. Reload the page and open the extension again.
Import failed
Try importing without images first. If the import succeeds without images, add photos manually in Dealerspot.
Vehicle data looks incomplete
Complete or correct the draft vehicle in Dealerspot before publishing it to your storefront or using it for Marketplace posting.
