Set Up the Chrome Extension
Install the extension, connect DealerSpot, and prepare a safe first Facebook test.
Install the extension in the same Chrome profile you use for DealerSpot. It uses your existing DealerSpot sign-in, so you do not need another password.
What you need
- Google Chrome
- A DealerSpot account
- DealerSpot open and signed in through the same Chrome profile
- For Marketplace posting, enabled Marketplace access and a Facebook account signed in through Chrome
Vehicle imports do not need Marketplace access.
Install the extension
- Open the DealerSpot listing in the Chrome Web Store.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- Review Chrome's permission message and confirm.
- Open Chrome's extensions menu and pin DealerSpot if you want faster access.
DealerSpot currently supports the extension in Google Chrome.
Connect DealerSpot
- Open DealerSpot in the same Chrome profile.
- Sign in and choose the dealership you want to use.
- Open the extension.
- Confirm that you see the correct dealership and inventory.
If the extension asks you to sign in, return to DealerSpot, finish signing in, and open the extension again.
Choose a dealership and location
If your account has more than one dealership, choose the correct dealership at the top of the extension.
- Importing: Choose the dealership location that should own the new Draft.
- Facebook posting: Confirm each vehicle's dealership location in DealerSpot before posting.
Posting does not move a vehicle to another location.
Choose Draft or Published mode
- Open the extension.
- Select Settings.
- Under Facebook Marketplace, choose Draft or Published.
| Mode | What the extension tries to do |
|---|---|
| Draft | Save the Facebook listing for you to review |
| Published | Make the listing public after filling the form |
Start with Draft. Facebook controls the final form and may ask for more information in either mode.
Check Marketplace access
Open Settings > Plans and Usage in DealerSpot and confirm that Marketplace access is enabled. Reopen the extension after changing access so it can refresh.
You can still import from supported sites when Marketplace posting is unavailable.
Test the setup
Test an import
Open a vehicle detail page on Copart, IAAI, Cars.com, AutoTrader, or Carfax. Open the extension and check for Import from [source].
Test Facebook posting
Open Inventory in the extension and choose one complete vehicle. Keep the first test in Draft mode so you can check the result before publishing.
Facebook controls its own platform
Facebook may change its pages, account requirements, or rules. Review every listing and follow Facebook's current requirements for your account and dealership.
Quick fixes
The extension says you are signed out
Make sure DealerSpot is signed in through the same Chrome profile, not another profile or an incognito window. Refresh DealerSpot and reopen the extension.
The wrong dealership appears
Use the dealership selector at the top of the extension. If one is missing, confirm that your DealerSpot account can access it.
There is no location selector
The selector appears during import only when the dealership has more than one location.
Facebook posting is unavailable
Check Marketplace access in Settings > Plans and Usage, confirm Facebook is signed in through the same Chrome profile, then reopen the extension.
Import is missing
Confirm that the open tab is a supported vehicle detail page. Refresh the page and reopen the extension.
