Use Vehicle Custom Fields
Add extra vehicle details and choose which ones shoppers can see.
Vehicle custom fields are extra boxes for facts that do not fit the regular vehicle form. You can use them for details such as key count, service records, equipment packages, or lot location.
Enter an answer
- Open the vehicle from Inventory.
- Select Details.
- Go to Custom Fields.
- Enter or choose an answer for each field you need.
- Save the vehicle details.
DealerSpot may suggest answers already used on other vehicles. Reusing the same wording makes Inventory and storefront filters easier to use.
Add or show a field
Select Manage in the Custom Fields section. From there, you can:
- Find an existing field
- Create a new field
- Show or hide a field on the current vehicle
- Change a field name
- Move fields into a different order
Creating or renaming a field changes the available field name across the dealership. Each vehicle keeps its own answer and show-or-hide choice.
Show a detail to shoppers
Vehicle fields include Show on your website. A custom detail can appear publicly when:
- The vehicle is Listed.
- The vehicle belongs to the storefront's branch.
- The field is shown on the vehicle.
- Show on your website is enabled.
- The field has an answer.
The vehicle page and Window Sticker use these same settings.
Check every public detail
Review each vehicle before enabling Show on your website. Keep dealership-only details, such as storage location or an unfinished inspection note, off the public listing.
Filter by an answer
Inventory filters look for exact custom-field answers. Public answers can also become choices in storefront filters.
Use the same spelling and capitalization every time. For example, Two keys and 2 Keys will appear as different choices.
Keep private details elsewhere
A storefront filter may match a listed vehicle even when that field is hidden on the vehicle page. Do not use custom fields for private locations, security details, or sensitive information.
Hide or delete an answer
Remove hides the field on the current vehicle but keeps its saved answer.
To erase the answer from this vehicle, open Manage, choose Delete, and save. This does not erase answers from other vehicles.
Manage vehicle custom fields from Details > Custom Fields. They are not managed from Settings.

Keep answers trustworthy
- Use short field names.
- Reuse the same answers instead of creating spelling variations.
- Verify any shopper-facing claim before showing it on the website.
- Update the answer when the vehicle or its included equipment changes.
